Controller of Defence Accounts (Pension Disbursement) Meerut came into existence in 1983 to facilitate and monitor the functioning of Defence Pension Disbursing Offices (DPDOs) situated across Northern India.

At present, CDA(PD) organisation serves, 3.75 lakh pensioners through 51 DPDOs. The control over the DPDOs is exercised through four Zonal Offices (PD) situated in Allahabad, Delhi Cantt, Jalandhar and Pathankot.

Various sections in the Main Office of CDA (PD) in Meerut discharges the following important functions;

(i) Ensuring functioning of the DPDOs as per the laid down procedure.
(ii) Inspection of the DPDOs/ZOs (PD).
(iii) Redressal of pensioner's grievances.
(iv) Sanctioning time barred arrears/LTA claims.
(v) According revival sanction in respect of pensioners whose names have been deleted from the Master.
(vi) Technical support to the DPDOs for maintenance of computer hardware.
(vii) Imparting training to officers/staff posted in the organisation on technical and functional aspects.
(viii) Dealing with court cases related to the organisation.
(ix) Providing infrastructure to various offices under the organisation.
(x) Administration of the orgnisation, including welfare matters of the staff and dealing with their grievances.


Similarly, the Zonal Offices support the DPDOs in their day - to - day functioning of the DPDOs. They facilitate smooth functioning of the DPDOs by acting as intermediaries between the Main Office and the DPDOs. They also discharge the following functions;

(i) Post audit of corrections carried out by the DPDOs in their Master every month.
(ii) Inspection of the DPDOs.
(iii) Scrutinising the cases for revival of time bar aspects and time barred arrears claims sent to the Main Office by the DPDOs.
(iv) Administrative role.
